Help us renovate our neighborhood playground!
FRIENDS OF FILBERT PLAYLOT PARK is a community group that is raising money to renovate our Northcenter playground! Our grass-roots, non-profit organization formed in July 2010 and includes hundreds of residential and business supporters. Filbert Playlot Park is the closest playground for hundreds of children. The equipment is 20+ years old, unsafe, and doesn't meet today's standards. Numerous families, daycare centers, and preschools are forced to drive or take long walks to other parks due to Filbert's poor conditions.
The cost to renovate Filbert Playlot Park is approximately $300,000. Chicago Park District playground renovations are funded through 1/3 Aldermanic, 1/3 Community, and 1/3 Park District donations. Former Alderman Schulter and current Alderman Pawar both support our cause and have committed $100,000 to Filbert. The Park District has included $100,000 for Filbert in its 2012 budget. FRIENDS OF FILBERT PLAYLOT PARK is actively fundraising and has also been awarded a play equipment grant that will reduce our Community’s fundraising goal by tens of thousands of dollars. The playground will be renovated in summer 2012 if we complete our Community fundraising soon!
Our goal is to increase our fundraising total to $100,000 by the end of 2011. Help us reach our goal; make a tax-deductible donation or buy a tax-deductible brick!
Friends of the Parks, a nonprofit organization, is the fiscal agent for FRIENDS OF FILBERT PLAYLOT PARK. This allows us to use their status as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. In short, this means that all donations are tax-deductible!
